I loved this experience! I am a person who is definitely addicted to my phone, which can make it hard for me to focus on consecutive reading. I read from 10am-2pm, which is the longest I have sat and read since the summer. During the school year, I tend to have more distractions from roommates, to other homework, to even Tiktok and other things on my phone. I did the challenge in a study room, which made it a lot easier for me to stay focused and limit distractions. This was the second time I read Normal People, and it broke my heart even more the second time. It’s been a few years since I read it the first time, and being older, I was able to relate more to the college part of the book. I love everything Sally Rooney writes and I’m so excited to read her new book, “Intermezzo.” Overall, I felt so clear headed and relaxed throughout the challenge and it made me realize how little value my phone has compared to a book. I’ve always loved reading, but this challenge gave me clarity as to how important it really is for mental health. Thank you for running this challenge!!!
